Depression has been described, as 'the common cold of all psychological disorders' as 7 to 12 per cent of men and 20 to 25 per cent of women will suffer from depression in their lifetime. Postpartum Depression or PPD is a serious disease that affects as many as 60 percent of new mothers. The new mother’s may not feel love for their newborn and may have no energy to take care of the child. They may also suffer from insomnia, excessive eating, anorexia, or even hyperventilation. They often feel guilty and worthless because they know that they should not feel this way. There is no set pattern for those who are most likely to be affected by Postpartum Depression.
The purpose of researching Postpartum Depression and the treatments is to learn how to better care for the women and their children. Postpartum Depression is a serious illness and without proper treatment and attention the children born to women who develop Postpartum Disease may grow up without proper care and in the most serious of cases, some children die of neglect or abuse. The articles used for this paper investigate the mother’s relationship with their partner during pregnancy, the perception of prenatal partner support, the association of maternal and paternal PPD, and the associations of relationship adjustment and symptoms of depressions and anxiety.

The knowledge gain from researching this topic and from the articles is that spousal support has become a very big factor in postpartum depression. Spousal support may be at risk during times of change or adjustment. Parenthood has been identified as a period of adjustment that can significantly affect many aspects of the spousal relationship. When a couple has no children, psychological resources are assigned to the maintenance and enjoyment of the relationship. With the addition of a child, the maintenance and enjoyment of the romantic…...

...Concerns of Federal Reserve Raising Interest Rates Sharon Cordero Post University Abstract In the midst of a struggling economy were food and energy prices are rising and long-term US Treasury yields approached their highest levels since the start of the year, concerns about higher inflation, have compelled investors to scale back their buying of long-dated Treasuries and European government bonds. As rates rise, the present values of home prices will fall, creating less “equity” for homeowners. Therefore, consumers will be less willing and less able to buy. The Fed tries to indirectly influence other interest rates (especially the federal funds rate) by buying or selling U.S. Securities on a large scale. They do this by buying bonds in mass quantities. Concerns Over Raising Interest Rates The Federal Reserve is the central bank of the United States, created by an act of Congress in 1913. The Federal Reserve sets and enforces the specific legal reserve requirements. There are several well-known types of lending interest rates that the federal reserve and banks charge to banks and consumers and which affect the interest rates that we have to pay for autos or mortgage loans. The discount rate is the rate that the Federal Reserve Bank charges to banks and other financial institutions to borrow short-term funds directly from the central bank. (Heyne, 352) The discount rate affects the rates these financial......

...has engulfed the entire metroplex. As unemployment and hard times have hit suburban and rural areas, so has this equal opportunity pariah. For over a decade CCO has led delegations of faith leaders along with our denominational partners to Jefferson City appealing to our legislators to bring forth real reform. Although the average interest rate is an unbelievable 445% APR, the legal ceiling is 1950%. The Federal Deposit Insurance Commission and CCO believe that anything over 36% is usury and legalized loansharking. Do you? This past year there were five efforts for “payday reform” and guess what that reform meant when we took out our calculators to pierce through the smoke and mirrors? Our elected representatives were “reforming” by lowering the rate to 1500%!! Enough is enough!!! Our legislature is broken on this issue because the payday lobby being one of the biggest. They buy votes on both sides of the aisle. In November 2012, with your help, we are sponsoring a ballot initiative that will cap the legal interest rate in the state of Missouri at 36%. This is the same rate that currently our military personnel have as an interest cap. CCO worked with Congressman Graves to get this protection for military families and now we want to do the same for ALL our families! Faith leaders from across the state have spoken clearly. The pay day loan exploitation is coming to a close. This is a moral issue, even though it has been framed as a political issue by......

...Locating Topics of Interest Harold Butts Northcentral University Educational Research Methodology EDU8002-8 Alexandru Spatariu, Ph.D. August 24, 2014 Locating Topics of Interest Currently, there is a lengthy list of interesting topics pertaining to the current status in special education. The list was narrowed down to three high profile topics that my school district is currently dealing with. The topics are student post high school transition, school bullying and school safety, and the increasing growth of students diagnosed with Autism and the lack of teachers qualified to educate those students. The expectation of students after graduating from high school is to enroll into a two or four year college, join the military, or secure a job. Unfortunately, those options are not available for special needs students leaving high school without a valid diploma. Research shows that the unemployment rate for individuals with disabilities are far greater than those individuals without disabilities. (Lindstrom, Doreen, & Mish, 2011) A student with a disability is more likely to have an Individualized Education Plan (IEP). Within the IEP is a section titled transition. The Individuals responsible for creating the IEP is usually the special education teacher or IEP team member. The IEP team may consist of a special education teacher, parents, students, counselor, speech therapist, administrator, and a general education teacher. If the student is at least 14......

...Leroy Thomas HIS 211 Topic A Jimmy Hampton June 2, 2014 Jonathan Edwards evoked vivid, terrifying images of the utter corruption of human nature and the terrors awaiting the unrepentant in hell. Jonathan Edwards’s famous description of the sinner as a loathsome spider suspended by a slender thread over a pit of seething brimstone in his best known sermon, “Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God.”(1741) The First Great Awakening also gained impetus from the wide-ranging American travels of an English preacher, George Whitefield. Although Whitefield had been ordained as a minister in the Church of England, he later allied with other Anglican clergymen who shared his evangelical bent, most notably John and Charles Wesley. Together they led a movement to reform the Church of England (much as the Puritans had attempted earlier to reform that church) which resulted in the founding of the Methodist Church late in the eighteenth century. During his several trips across the Atlantic after 1739, Whitefield preached everywhere in the American colonies, often drawing audiences so large that he was obliged to preach outdoors. What Whitefield preached was nothing more than what other Calvinists had been proclaiming for centuries that sinful men and women were totally dependent for salvation on the mercy of a pure, all-powerful God. But Whitefield and many American preachers who eagerly imitated his style presented that message in novel ways. Gesturing dramatically, sometimes......

...Choose your topic. Try to make it as creative as possible; if you're given the opportunity to choose your own, take advantage of this. Choose something you're particularly interested in because this will make it easier to write; in particular, try to select the topic as a result of pressing questions you already know you want to search for answers to. Once you've decided on a topic, be sure to hone down it to a do-able topic; often a topic is initially too broad in its coverage, which will make it impossible to complete within the time and space constraints given. Narrow down your topic to something that can really be worked within the boundaries of the paper. If the topic is already chosen for you, start exploring unique angles that can set your content and information apart from the more obvious approaches many others will probably take. Finally, whatever angle your topic takes, it should be both original in approach and insightful, something the reader will be drawn into and fascinated by. Take great care not to choose a topic and be so set on how you see the outcome of your paper that you're closed to new ideas and avenues of thinking as you work through the paper. This is known in academia as "premature cognitive commitment". It can mar an otherwise good paper because an outcome that is pre-determined in your head, regardless of the research findings along the way, will be molded to fit the outcome, rather than the outcome reflecting a genuine analysis of the......

...The topic I would like to choose is about auto industry, in recent years, cars had played a vital role in people’s everyday life, and it makes life much more easier than ever before. With the rise of gas price, people are more and more concern about what type of energy they will use after using up gas? What I concern is not only the current state of this sector, but also the future car technology. I want to find the issues and opportunities of future car technology. The answers I would like to know by searching this topic are listed. First, I want to know the current situation about auto industry, is there enough gas for us to use? How long can we use before exhaustion of resources. Second, what exactly is new energy, how many types of energy are there can be used on vehicles, is new energy expensive, and the process of what’s the rate of process. Finally, I would like to know what would be the future operation strategies for large auto companies like Toyota, Benz, BMW, etc. I think this paper will be as long as 5 to 7 pages, I will first focus on current auto industry state, how much fuel we use everyday, and raise up to future auto industry, relating with future car technology, site the resources which I found on Wall street Journal and give my own analysis. I found that it might be hard to search for the topic that is completely what I want; I will spend more time on this....

...innate or just part of general cognition? The specific way that we acquire language is a contentious debate in the field of linguistics. Some researchers believe that humans are born with an innate, specialized mental module which facilitates the acquisition of language in young children. Other researchers believe that language acquisition occurs through general cognitive capabilities that are not necessarily language-specific. For this topic, you may either a) Choose a position in this debate and defend your position, or b) based on your research into these two sides, discuss what type of argument or evidence would be required to settle this debate in favour of either side. Whichever approach you choose, make sure to focus on specific types of evidence, whether they are phonological, syntactic, or otherwise, and how that evidence bears on the larger question. Initial resources The following articles are good starting points for your paper. They should provide you with some background information for each of the topics. ...Topic 1: What career would you like to choose after leaving school Model answer: Today, it is not easy to choose a career. Hundreds of students pass various examinations every year and compete with one another for positions in the various professions which are not so many as there are applicants. I would, however, like to choose teaching as my career. Teaching is an interesting career for several reasons. As a teacher I can learn many things, especially if I teach to an udder-secondary school. If I teach History or English, for example, I have to read many books to make my teaching lessons more interesting to my pupils. Thus, I can acquire more knowledge of the subjects that I teach than what I can learn from the class text books. It is indeed a fact that a teacher learns a lot from the class text books; but that is hardly enough to make the teacher's lessons interesting to pupils. A good teacher must therefore read many other books. Again, as a teacher, I have to speak well so that my pupils will be able to understand my instructions well. In this way I can improve my powers of expression. Even my pronunciation of words will improve to great extent. Further, as a teacher, I shall have enough leisure to read and prepare for various examinations. It is possible today to sit for many important examinations by studying entirely at home. Thus, I can acquire important qualifications. Finally, as a teacher I will be respected as an educated person. People will......
