If there is one thing that all Americans desire it is entertainment. Americans spent more than eight hours a day watching television (1). That’s two-hundred and forty days watching television a year (Taking into account time spent sleeping, eating, and other necessities). People spend about the same amount of time working in one month as they do watching television.
Then there’s the time being spent on the internet. Although not as much as television the internet is quickly becoming just as time-consuming as television. On average Americans spent sixty-six hours on the internet a month (2), that’s thirty-three days spent on the internet. These statistics have risen consistently over the past five years on average of one-hundred million users a year (3).
Time isn’t the only thing that Americans give up in order to fulfill their need for entertainment. The amount of money spent also contributes to the substantial amount of missing from many American’s pockets. In two-thousand and nine Americans spent almost ten billion dollars on movie tickets alone. That doesn’t even include dollars spent on D.V.D’s, which reached just under seventeen billion dollars, (This includes both D.V.D purchases and D.V.D Rentals) (4). Americans have an insatiable desire for entertainment that will grow until something dramatic changes the routine that we have become accustomed to over the past one-hundred years.
Everything mentioned so far has been to given to show Americans need for entertainment. But the examples given are very one sided. The only ones involved in these transactions are the consumers and the price setters. The consumers have no connection with the suppliers besides the idea a big corporation owner in his tower in the sky, only coming down to raise prices on the poor unsuspecting consumers.

Of these many aspects there are a handful that stands out such as gas prices, interest rates and most importantly unemployment. The unemployment rate in the United States has decreased to 7.8 percent in September of 2012. Historically, from 1948 until 2012, the United States Unemployment Rate averaged 5.80 Percent reaching an all-time high of 10.80 Percent in November of 1982 and a record low of 2.50 Percent in May of 1953 (Trade Eco, 2012). The prestigious economist Adam Smith once proposed that society was governed by an “invisible hand” which worked to self-regulate the marketplace in the midst of the ambitious goals of sellers and consumers alike. It is by this “invisible hand” that our economy today works, and it can be used to make sense of how the laws of supply and demand work together to guide markets such as that of ice cream. The law of supply states that a rise in the price of a good induces an increase in the quantity supplied, while the law of demand states that a rise in the price of a good induces a decrease in the quantity demanded. These changes may occur when the price of an item drops, the want for the item drops as well  and when the price goes up on an item the demand for it decreases. Situations that my effect  demand is direct from the supply, or how much of the product is on hand. As soon as a shortage in product occurs, the demand typically escalates. In this situation, the supplier may charge   the consumer a higher price and they will pay. On the other end, if there is a surplus of an item,  the consumer is typically not interested, and therefore, the supplier must lower the cost in hopes to sell out the surplus. ...Interactive Supply and Demand Simulation Lemonade Stand": a game that just oozes the phrase "supply and demand". "Lemonade Stand" was somewhat challenging in the gameplay; the concept, however, was simple, play through seven days, selling lemonade, while buying the components necessary to concoct said lemonade. Sounds easy, but the kicker is the part where you want to come out with as much profit as possible. I played three seven day sessions of this game, and never once did I manage to come out with a profit. It seemed as though the only time I was drawingin customers was when I dropped the price and raised the amount of sugar per pitcher, which would, needless to say, increas my spending and decrease the money I'm making. Obviously, this is not good for business. A game such as this, believe it or not, requires quite a bit of thought, and, if one hopes to be successful, a strategy. My strategy going into my first gameplay was simple: I didn't have one. My brother had played this game before and warned me that it is difficult to know what to do until you see how the customers react. If you get little-to-no customers, drop the price, then see how they react. Even after lowering the price, I was getting customers that were telling me to lower it even more, and some customers just simply said, "Mmm!"
