...Media and its Influence on Teens Benjamin Morgan COM/172 September 12, 2012 Judith Arent-Morency Media and its Influence on Teens The media surrounds society in a major way. Most people within society are influenced by television, movies, and music whether they realize it or not. The violence in these forms of media can have a heavy impact on a child’s learning process which can carry on into adulthood. Children view cartoons which contain high levels of violence that then teach the children violent behavior without consequence, because parents often do not explain what fantasy is and what is real. All forms of media can have a substantially negative effect on society especially teens. Parents are the key to preventing such major influence by talking with children and teens and help them understand what is right and wrong. As society has grown so has technology. Before television times were more easy going; people were happy to help others, and they had a sense of safety in the community. TV, movies, and music have all changed this. More people break laws and are dishonest, most of society does not feel safe as it is evident by locking of doors and constant upgrades of security measures. TV has greatly influenced these changes. Television promotes alcohol, drug use, sex and violence on a daily basis. Violence has become more prevalent in primetime television; the average child will see thousands of simulated murders before......

Entertainment media is everywhere.   Entertainment media has many benefits and but has brought many challenges as well to American culture and has changed the way we interact with others. Throughout the many years of entertainment media, things have changed for the positive. I believe that with all of the changes, there has been mostly positive outcome from the media, but there has been some negative aspects as well. The television and radio helped to create our culture by having an impact on the way books, newspapers and magazines are designed and created. The television is one of the biggest influences on American families today. Children spend more time watching television and playing video games, therefore, spending less time interacting with others, which results in poor social and communication skills. ...Influence of Entertainment Media HUM/186 20 Oct 2014 Jackie Rose Influence of Entertainment Media The three significant forms of visual entertainment media that have shaped our culture are movies, television and video games. These three have been a staple or lifestyle in almost every American household. Motion pictures have been around since the early twentieth century. During this time movies were the most popular form of entertainment. Movie theaters continued to be the go to form of entertainment until the fifties, when the television came to be. Televisions sets grew in popularity due to their affordability and as a result movie theaters felt the blow. Movie producers had to become more creative in order to compete with televisions. Technology continued to progress and the movie industry used this to their advantage. Production costs for the films began to rise and as a result the movie industry stopped making low budget films. Every producer wanted to outdo the next and make the next big thriller. This allowed them to spend more on their efforts. The invention of the television was founded in 1920 but it was not granted acceptance until after World War II. Television programing grew rapidly in the 1950’s due to funding and it became commonplace. In the sixties color television began to arise although in the fifties shows were produced in color. Eighties and nineties gave life to cable and the beginning of satellite transmissions.......

People watch television for entertaining purposes but it spears that more and more society tries to be as those they watch on television as far as trying to dress, act, live and or impersonate them. Various forms of entertainment media has shaped American cultures and its values because there have been changes in the way that we communicate with one another. For example with television and music terminology and meanings of words have had their own form of communication developed. There is a new form of slang and jargon used to fit in with what people see and hear. Artists try to develop ways to interact and become accepted by their audience that they do not focus on the changes that they make or the reactions that will be caused. Television has been around for many years whereas the radio was first. When television was created there was picture to match sounds being heard. People were able to see what they were trying to envision before allowing them the opportunity to make changes to be like what they saw. It would be wise to be like you but not everyone knows what that is. The social influences of media entertainment are both......
