Functions of Human Resource Management:

Human Resource Management involves the development of a perfect blend between traditional administrative functions and the well-being of all employees within an organization. Employee retention ratio is directly proportionate to the manner in which the employees are treated, in return for their imparted skills and experience. A Human Resource Manager ideally empowers inter-departmental employee relationships and nurtures scope for down-the-rung employee communication at various levels. The field is a derivative of System Theory and Organizational Psychology. Human resources has earned a number of related interpretations in time, but continues to defend the need to ensure employee well-being. Every organization now has an exclusive Human Resource Management Department to interact with representatives of all factors of production. The department is responsible for the development and application of ongoing research on strategic advances while hiring, terminating and training staff. The Human Resource Management Department is responsible for: * Understanding and relating to employees as individuals, thus identifying individual needs and career goals. * Developing positive interactions between workers, to ensure collated and constructive enterprise productivity and development of a uniform organizational culture. * Identify areas that suffer lack of knowledge and insufficient training, and accordingly provide remedial measures in the form of workshops and seminars. * Generate a rostrum for all employees to express their goals and provide the necessary resources to accomplish professional and personal agendas, essentially in that order. * Innovate new operating practices to minimize risk and generate an overall sense of belonging and accountability. * Recruiting the required workforce and making provisions…...

Operations Function and Other Function

...1. Introduction An organization’s operations function is concerned with getting things done i.e. producing goods and/or services for customers. Effectively, the main objective of the operations function is to produce those goods and services required by customers whilst managing resources as efficiently as possible. 2. RELATINSHIP WITH OTHER ORGANIZATIONAL FUNCTIONS The operations function lies at the heart of any organization and interacts with all the other functions. Although the various organizational functions involve different activities, they must interact to achieve the goals of the organization. This therefore implies that Operation Management decisions are not made in isolation. Rather, each decision is intertwined with other organizational functions following the strategic direction developed at the top level of the organization. In a nutshell, many of the decisions made by operations managers are dependent on information from the other functions. At the same time, other functions cannot be carried out properly without information from operations as detailed below: 1. Finance: The finance function ties all departments together with monetary measurements that tell whether the company is making money. They also regulate the acquisition of funds to keep the business operations going, and investing money received wisely. Finance managers need to work closely with the operations function to be able to determine the need for capital......

Forbes Regional Hospital offers the latest medical innovations and procedures so the patients can receive the best care in their own community. Based on the data collected, some of the possible challenges Forbes Regional Hospital can face are harassment, increase in pay, and labor unions.   There is a credibility gap between Human Resources, Executive Management, and the other organizational departments.   There are people in HR with a variety of background education and skill sets that are not necessarily specialized towards the field they currently hold. Individuals come into HR management with their past experiences as a psychologist or clerical supervisor to name a few.   The previous experience they bring to the table normally sets the tone for their current outlook in HR. As a result of the changes to the Americans with Disabilities Act, persons with disabilities can expect to work in safe surroundings without being......

A Critical Evaluation of the Relative Importance of One of the Key Hr Functions and Its Role in Effective Hrm in Organisations Today, with Reference to Hrm Models and Theories

...The key function of HRM that this essay will explore is the impact Employee Relations has in the way in which HR operates in many departments. Human resource Management is department which most businesses use as a means of enabling people’s capabilities in order to achieve a critical competitive advantage that’s attained through a distinctive set of integrated employment policies, programmes and practices. (Bratton &Gold 2007).This essay will provide an in depth discussion of components and the key players involved in Employment Relations that are seen in organizations today, as well as the importance of the integration of other key HRM practices and the management of the organisation as a whole. As well as examining the key HR functions I will also analyse the key models, theories and concepts that have a direct impact on HRM such as the Fombrun, Harvard and Warwick models that are seen to be used in many different organisations today. Employee Relations is a collective term in the Human Resources function that includes employee engagement within the workplace, values the employees’ rights to be part of trade unions. It also sets in stone in most organisations the employment legislation as well as managing grievance and disciplinary actions. Employment Relations is regarded as a relatively new term as it has previously was known as industrial relations conversely it does not have the same standards and equality as Employment Relations has in the Human Relations workplace. ...

Hr Functions That Support an Organisation's Performance

...HR functions that support an organisation's performance. Human resources is an important asset to any organisation. HR professionals contribute to the planning and strategy of the business they are part of. They follow an organisation's vision and have a responsibility in delivering the best results for the business. Human resources is a complex department with various functions. I would like to discuss three of the functions what impact they have on a business's performance. The first one I would like to discuss is recruitment. According to Leatherbarrow et al (2010, cited Beardwell et al 2007, p190) "the recruitment and selection process is concerned with identifying, attracting and choosing suitable people to meet an organisation's human resource requirements". It focuses on the strategic gaps in the organisation and then tries to meet those needs in the labour market. If an organisation consists of talented and motivated people it automatically boosts the organisation's performance. HR professionals who take care of recruitment also make sure that the hired workforce meets the financial allowances. It is more beneficial for the company to train and to help employees to develop rather than just employing new staff, in this way the business is financially better of and helps the existing talent to reach their full potential as well. Another important activity in organisation would be learning and talent development. According to the CIPD's 2013 Learning and Talent......

...1. Which external environment factors did hurricane rita affect . Discuss. The Human resource function was affected by Hurricane Rita on the following maters: The external environment has been changed due to an unanticipated event that had direct influence on the Labor market, Competition & Custumer and there for it influence the 5 functional areas of the HRM. Perhaps the longest-lasting impact of Hurricane Katrina was its environmental damage that, in real terms, has mainly to do with public health. Significant amounts of industrial waste and raw sewage spilled directly into New Orleans neighborhoods. And oil spills from offshore rigs, coastal refineries, and even corner gas stations have also made their way into residential areas and business districts throughout the region. 2. How were the human resource functions affected by hurricane Rita? The role of the HR department is to provide the right person at the right place at the right time, after Hurricane Rita the business became worse and there were a shortage in the employment so large and small businesses were frantically trying to find workers so they could start again. That why they had to employ untrained workers who might command a premium salary. 3. Do you believe the HR situations described regarding Hurricane Rita would be typical in a disaster? Explain. Yes. HR situation in this case will be a disaster , that because they even bussed in employee from other cities each morning and returned them at......

Hr Metrics and the Measurement of Hr

...HR Metrics and The Measurement of HR Tony Guse Human Resources Management AL359 Instructor: Mary Felder 5/10/2014 The goal of an effective HR department is to add value, make an organization more viable, and contribute towards the objectives and goals of a business. Human Resources Metrics convey the value added by the HR function; demonstrate the contributions made by human capital; and measure job-related duties. To be considered a strategic partner, HR must understand business. Intrinsic to that understanding are HR metrics. Simply put, metrics are a way to calculate, measure and track key performance indicators. In the same way that a company has a strategy, so must HR. Most HR activities can be measured and benchmarked (Mathis, 58). There are practically an infinite amount of metrics that HR can use spanning recruitment, retention, payroll, compensation, benefits, productivity, and training, among others. Each metric can provide insight in to how HR is performing. Some metrics are more important than others. This is all dependent upon the company’s goals, strategy, and how much useful data is available. There are, however, key questions to consider when establishing metrics: * What metrics are most valuable to the organization? * What data needs to be collected to calculate the metrics? * How will the data from the metrics be analyzed and benchmarked? * How will the data be used to improve processes and develop new action......

Hr Roles and Functions

...How roles and functions contribute to organisational performance A Tarmac case study Page 1: Introduction A Nottingham County Surveyor, Edgar Purnell Hooley, discovered tarmac by accident in the early 20th century. He found a barrel of tar had spilled onto the road at a local ironworks. This had mixed with waste slag from the furnaces. The result was a dust-free, strong surface. Hooley created and patented the product that could take the weight of the new automobile. In 1903 the Tarmacadam syndicate was formed, its name taken from the developer of the road construction system, John MacAdam. The Tarmac Group is now a large and complex company and is organised into three businesses: Tarmac Quarry Materials ready mixed concrete, asphalt, aggregates, lime, cement and contracting services Tarmac Building Products mortar, screed, masonry, packed and precast products International. To manage its business Tarmac has a clear strategic framework and one important element of this is having the right people with the right skills in the business. It is Tarmac's core belief that its people make the difference and enable the business to be the leader in its chosen markets. It aims to have motivated people all working together as one team across its business units and functions in support of its vision to 'achieve the exceptional'. To deliver exceptional value, Tarmac focuses on five big goals which are clearly defined and easily remembered as the mnemonic......

The function is shaped like a parabola. This parabola opens down. The x-axis interception point of -3x2 :( 0, 0) and the y-axis interception of -3x2 (0,0). The domain is all real number, which can be written in standard notation as D= (-∞, ∞) and R= (-∞, 0). When I plot the parabola I notice it has a vertex of (0,0). From the above I can truly this relation and is also a function as every element of the domain has one and only once value associated with it in the range and passes through the vertical line test. Image below represents my function h(x) =-3x2. My second problem comes from page 711 #34.The problem states h(x) =-√x-1 h(x) =-√1-1=0 h(x) =-√2-1=-1 h(x) =-√3-1=-1.41 x | h(x) =-√x-1 | 1 | 0 | 2 | -1 | 3 | -1.41 | From the results, when I plot my graph it resembles half of a parabola, which opens to the left with a line which falls below the x-axis, except my starting point (1,0). This is functionsy=-x-1. The function has a range [0, -∞) because the line starts at and includes the x-axis, then it continues going down forever. The domain (left/right) would be [1, ∞)...

Many of the competencies that are needed in International HR management (IHRM) are also needed for domestic HR they just vary based on intensity. These varying intensities are because of the factors that are present in global markets that are not present in domestic markets. These factors range from language barriers to other legal and environmental situations that are present in foreign markets. The Society for Human Resource Management (2010), says that the following core competencies are the most important for managers in IHR: 1. Strategic Thinking 2. Effective Communication 3. Hr Function

...Review of HR Function October 2015 This report has been commissioned by the Executive Directors and covers the implications of reducing or removing the HR function completely from the organisation. This report supports the retention of the HR function by looking at the two main ways the HR function supports the business. Firstly the report will cover the HR activities that support the organisations strategy, and secondly the support HR professionals provide to line managers and their staff. Activities that support the organisations strategy Recruitment – HR staff work with the relevant managers to ensure a clear and reasonable advert and job description is put together to help ensure the candidates know what is expected of them. By involving the HR staff the advertising and job description is legal, i.e. non-discriminatory and fits the strategy of the organisation i.e. making sure the correct amount of hours, pay scale and salary are advertised for. The HR staff are also involved in the selection process, ensuring that all candidates are subject to the same objective selection criteria. They are then used to support the relevant managers to interview the candidates. This supports the strategy because it helps the organisation to avoid claims of discrimination and making sure the right people are in the right roles. Staff Policies – HR are responsible for writing and maintaining the Staff Policies. This supports the strategic goals as by ensuring staff work in the......

They advertise job postings, source candidates, screen applicants, conduct preliminary interviews and coordinate hiring efforts with managers responsible for making the final selection of candidates. Safety Workplace safety is an important factor. Under the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970, employers have an obligation to provide a safe working environment for employees. One of the main functions of HR is to support workplace safety training and maintain federally mandated logs for workplace injury and fatality reporting.
