ABSTRACT
Funds are very essential to an organization, it is used to support the projects and other plans of an organization. Although some organizations have enough funds, most of non-profit organizations are still lacking knowledge in managing their group’s funds. Fund raising tries to increase the money of which organizations may use in their projects for day-to-day operations. Maintaining enough funds for the operations of organizations is a challenge for the group as a whole. Most of organizations suffer from this problem, even in the researchers’ organization and the worst thing is organizations don’t even know where their funds were allocated.
In this regard, the researchers would like to come up with an effective fund raising activity that will be used by the researcher’s organization and also might be of help to other organizations in maintaining funds for the operations of the organization. The researchers would also like to study this topic to identify sound strategies that would be useful in order to finance future projects. Furthermore, the researchers would like to emphasize through this research paper the importance of the manpower or the human resources in having effective fund raising activities. It is observed in most of organizations that people who occupy the top position are almost the same people who are working to make the organization productive which is wrong. All of the members and officials of an organization are all responsible in the day-to-day activities. This research paper will identify who among the members of the organization should be responsible in handling the fund raising activities. This research paper will also tackle the possible conflicts of responsibilities among the members during the fund raising activities. The researchers would like to enumerate some strategies to minimize the possible conflicts that may arise during…...

...assets (working capital needs) of the corporates could be met by one of the following methods: · First Method of Lending: Banks can work out the working capital gap, i.e. total current assets less current liabilities other than bank borrowings (called Maximum Permissible Bank Finance or MPBF) and finance a maximum of 75 per cent of the gap; the balance to come out of long-term funds, i.e., owned funds and term borrowings. This approach was considered suitable only for very small borrowers i.e. where the requirements of credit were less than Rs.10 lacs · Second Method of Lending: Under this method, it was thought that the borrower should provide for a minimum of 25% of total current assets out of long-term funds i.e., owned funds plus term borrowings. A certain level of credit for purchases and other current liabilities will be available to fund the build up of current assets and the bank will provide the balance (MPBF). Consequently, total current liabilities inclusive of bank borrowings could not exceed 75% of current assets. RBI stipulated that the working capital needs of all borrowers enjoying fund based credit facilities of more than Rs. 10 lacs should be appraised (calculated) under this method. The committee suggested norms, i.e., ceilings for inventory and receivables, which could be considered for bank finance. The 15 industries included cotton and synthetic textiles, paper, cement, pharmaceuticals and engineering. Thus, for instance, the norms proposed for the......

Raising Troops

...Raising Troops Code of the Samurai by Taira Shigesuke and The Methods of the Ssu-Ma (author unknown) both focus a lot on a sort of “code” for warriors during warfare. My question is what is the best way to raise troops? These two readings explain different answers to my question, but to answer it myself I would say the best way to raise troops would be to not focus solely on things such as strength or marksmanship, but to focus also on the mindset of a troop and how to pull through in times of difficulty and how to respect warfare and their unit and how to face fear and overcome obstacles. Taira Shigesuke writes about how, first and foremost, a warrior should consider it his first concern to keep death in mind at all times. But you don’t just have a duty to the military; you have to fulfill your loyalty to your family as well. Unlike the warrior ways described in the Ssu-Ma, Samurai warriors focused day and night on their duties as a warrior, whether they were a farmer, or merchant, etc. They always carried a sword with them as to always be prepared and keep death in mind at all times. Education was not important early on, and even 12 and 13 year olds were learning martial arts instead of focusing on becoming literate. Their sole focus was the way of a warrior. Now, however, those born in the present era focus on literature and reading and writing from the time they are seven or eight in times of peace. A big difference between the Ssu-Ma and the code of the Samurai is...

...looking at its economy health. Depending on the state of our economy, it can determine how much a family would be able to purchase from a local grocery store. Any sign of inflation will increase the prices of items, which in return will result in consumer cutting back on what they would normally spend on groceries and therefore can factor in our country’s economy slowdown. When we talk about massive layoffs of employees, I can only imagine how bad the economy is and how much our country is really down. When our government’s spending increases, the more chances that our economy will do good, people will get jobs, unemployment rate will go down, and so on. But when our government have no spending power, no way to pay our debts, and all funds are cut off, that’s when we can witness loss of jobs, and big increase in our country’s unemployment rate. Massive layoff affects all of us in many ways, and these affects us in a very negative way. Our government economy slows down because a lot of the unemployed people cannot afford to spend whatever money they have left on things they normally spend their money on. Businesses will start losing profit and will eventually slowdown, resulting in massive closeout of businesses, especially small businesses. We will see a lot of houses being foreclose, increase in homeless people, crime rate can also increase due to desperations, and in some cases suicides can also show dramatic increase. Let’s end in a somewhat good note with the......

Raising Children

...While on a 4 hr. lunch break with coworkers I recently had a discussion about the differences in raising our children. It amazed me on how so many of us differ in our opinions on parenthood. Out of four parents we all had a different approach on what we expected of our teenaged kids. One coworker in the group said she encourage her kids to never move away. She would rather have them close to her at home while going to school and working. Another coworker said she feels her kid’s should concentrate on Academics only. She said it is a burden financially but it’s an investment in her kid’s future. A single father in our group strongly encourages his son to focus on sports scholarships. I listen intently to each parent argue their values and views on parenthood. I ask them if their own upbringing had any effect on their decision on how to raise kids. The response was amazing. Each coworker did not have the privilege, opportunity, or choice. They either had to work at an early age to help with household expenses or drop out of school due to lack of money. I understood the compassion behind the opinions of each. I told them I encourage my kids to be independent, and have a balance of both education and decision making. But focus on education. I also explain to them my kids had jobs at the age of 16, and went on to be successful in the Military and other endeavors in life. We had a good debate at lunch. I walked away realizing that parenting skills differ from person to......

Graves went to financial institutions and other private investors with his business plan. Like his professor, they also told him the plan would not work saying “a restaurant serving only chicken finger meals will never make......

Children Raising

...Naturally, family is made up of mother, father, and children. Children are supposed to be raised by both parents, and we all accept that father and mother have vital roles in upbringing their children into potential and useful people to contribute to social development. However, it is quite challenging if we want to compare whether mother or father is more important. What if mother is more important, is she has to assume more responsibility, or what if father is, ought he to assume more? On my point of view, in no account should parents assume unequal responsibility due to children development sake, the difficulty of raising children, and family happiness. Whether or not children are nurtured with equal responsibility from mother and father has effect on children’s development throughout their lives. With both cares, children get full experience of live from both mother and father because what father can give to children is different from that of the mother, but it doesn’t mean one is less important than the other. Mother can teach children how to cook, how to sew, or how to deal with household chore while father can teach them how to fish, to be strong, or to protect oneself from any danger. And some circumstances children need advice from father and other circumstances, only mother is more suitable to give advice. On top of that it is also known that with both parents care, children benefit in their braveness. Children will feel confident around the house, at school, or......

Raising Kittens

...Michelle Jones Dr. Vaughn Composition 1 22 February2016 Raising Kittens Once far, far, far away just outside of Richwoods, Missouri, on our farm, I found and raised two tiny gray kittens. These two kittens were literally on our doorstep, as if the mother knew that we would take them in. They were lost and alone with no mother cat to care for them. No matter how loud they called, their mother just didn't come to their very loud calls. With their eyes still closed and not able to care for themselves we took them in. My family and I named these kittens Jewel and Princess. Taking care of kittens isn't really that different from raising children, it takes a lot of hard work to keep newborn kittens alive by feeding them often, cleaning them frequently, and giving them a warm place to sleep. These kittens were so hungry and I knew Jewel and Princess needed more than just plain cow’s milk to fill their empty stomachs, so I went online and found out how to make kitten formula. Then I did some research about how much they needed to eat, which I needed to know their approximate age in order to know how much and how often to feed them. The information told me a way to tell their approximate age by how big they are and if their eyes are open or closed. Jewel and Princess had fluffy gray fur that was really soft, their eyes were still closed and were the size of a female human palm. With this description, I figured they were about 1-2 weeks old. Jewel and Princess would need to be fed......

Joint Activities with a Fund-Raising Appeal

...Joint Activities with a Fund-Raising Appeal The Joint Costs of Multi-purpose Activities is the subject of AICPA Statement of Position No. 98-It applies when an organization combines the fundraising function with another function - usually some type of program activity, such as public education ("Joint Cost Allocation | Nonprofit Accounting Basics," n.d.). There are three criteria that must be met in order for a non-for profit organization; Purpose, audience, and content. The purpose indicates the reason for doing the activity. The question that must be answered is: Does the purpose of the activity meet the accomplishment of a program function? As described by the AICPA Statement of Position 98-2, the audience helps determine whether or not the activity is solely a fundraising activity - Did the activity target mostly rich people, or prior donors? If so, there is a presumption that it is primarily a fundraising activity. The third criterion that should be met when determining joint costs for multi-purpose activities is content. For example - Is the content of the activity genuinely program-oriented? Generally, the joint activity needs to ask the audience to take a specific action that will help accomplish the NFP’s mission (Reck, Lowensohn, Wilson, & Wilson, 2013, p. 557). Below are three different scenarios in which I will determine whether or not the purpose, audience, and content criteria has been met as described in Chapter 13 of the AICPA, Audit and Accounting Guide...

Raising Children

...of that reward for bad grades, this leads to an explanation of how school is their job and work is mine. I get promoted and more money the better I work and get less maybe even fired for doing poorly. In conclusion DR Ryan has given us ten great tips for raising children. I want all to remember no child is born with a how to manual and just like us each child is different. As parents we all want what is best for our children, one of the best ways to give them that, is to remember they are individuals and must be treated like one. I close by saying as parents we need to come down off our high place and do our best to lead our children to that high place. Teach them to place god before all other things, goodness towards others, and humility is a good thing and then all you have to do is watch them blossom into the fine young person you was hoping for. “Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.” (King James Version: Proverbs 22:6). Collaborative Fund-Raising Activity

...Nontraditional sources of funding, I think would be to commercial venture. Organizations could sell it services to people who can pay for them. Bequest program - having people leave money to the organization in their will. Affinity marketing- a store could its customers that they will put a certain portion of their profit towards the organization. Phoenix Homeless Agency needs funds to continue providing counseling to qualifying recipients, so they would need to come up with the best possible way to fund their efforts. They could try several fund raising strategies to do that such as Client donations, special events, and annual campaign. I think these would do best because you would think that with the economy being the way it is that donations would not come in but that is just not true. If you make it known would your cause is for and appeal to passionate people that want the same thing they will donate. Special events are another fundraising idea I think would work, especially raffles. The organization could have another organization donation something that people would want such as a gift cards, or maybe tickets to something, I say small things like this because they could have many company’s donate this and that way there are more prizes at the end which when you think about it more people will play. Annual campaign I think would be a good idea because the organization is not new so you would think that have had donors in the past that they could contact to......

Collaborative Fund-Raising Activity:

...Collaborative Fund-raising Activity Checkpoint: 3/12/2009 The Phoenix Homeless Agency (PHA) is in the need of increased funding to further future funding toward job counseling for qualified clients. Regularly agencies get traditional contracts and grants; but the economy has increased the need and requires them to find other sources. The Executive Director and Board of Directors have begun their search by using the internet, other agencies, and community networking. They have agreed on, that there are three options that will yield revenue while keeping costs under control. This will result in money left over for their program; appealing to local government officials, contacting local businesses for donations, and holding a strong public donation campaign. Contacting local government officials the agency may access information about funding that is available to community agencies that are not related to federal or state traditional grants and contracts. These may include United Way, connections to people who might donate, grants from large out-of the area businesses and foundations, or city donations to help unemployment. They may also receive (employ, volunteer, students) grant writers who will be willing to help organization understand, locating, and the writing process, that achieve better results. Local businesses are often feeling the same negative results as the individuals with the recession. The people understand needing help and should donate products to be......

Collaborative Fund

...Collaborative Fund- Raising Activity Phoenix Homeless Agency (PHA) is in need of funding to continue counseling for jobs for qualified participants. Having access to traditional contracts is necessary to get funding from other sources. A search has started on behalf of PHA by using different means of communication, such as the internet and networking in the community. Three options have been presented to have higher resources and lower cost. Contacting local businesses for donations or sponsorships, fundraising campaigns, and federal grants will be examined. Contacting local businesses for donations and sponsorship should be first on the list, because local agencies are kept abreast of funding that is generated within their agency, so therefore this information should be easier to obtain from the government or any federal agencies. Some of the local agencies are the United Way, United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF), and Make A Wish. By using these agencies as an anchor, PHA will be able to receive federal and state grants. With these agencies being on board, there are grant writers who can write grants. Second, PHA will be able to get a grant writer who will write different grant proposals to state, local, and federal agencies concerning the current situation of the depletion of agency funds. Planning, seed money or start-up, program, and project support are all types of grants that are available. A program or project support grant is...

Gobi Fund

...Q1. Why is it difficult to establish a new fund? Why is track record so important in fund raising? The main concern is to convince the investors to invest their money in Gobi. Therefore, it is necessary to raise a rational-sized fund. To raise a new fund is not an easy thing to do as everything including the fund structure, team, approach, LP base, and amount of capital have to be defined appropriately. The general partners also need to contribute their own money in order to convince the investors to invest together with them. The track record is very important in fund raising because if Gobi has a good track record, more investors will be interested to invest in it. Q2. Prepare a SWOT analysis for Gobi Fund II proposal in the context of venture capital fundraising. STRENGTHS: * Gobi operates in an area where there is a lot of pent up demand (IT and digital media). * Gobi can acts like a bridge for western LPs to invest in Chinese companies. WEAKNESSES: * It is difficult to raise a new fund and if Gobi do not really have a good track record, it will become harder to gain the investors trust in order to raise the new funds. OPPORTUNITIES: * May have the advantage in acquiring a higher return from investment in the IT and media market since they already invest in that industry during the early stage. Meaning that they already have the experiences in investing in IT industry, therefore, may not become a problem to earn a high return. THREATS: * May......
