For observation of an early childhood education institution I visited the preschool classroom of Livonia Little Tots in Livonia, Michigan . The classroom consisted of eight children, five and six years old. The type of program at Livonia Little Tots is what I will call a “traditional” preschool. After being given the opportunity to observe a preschool program traditional setting, I found that I was comparing and contrasting the events I had observed in each classroom with each other.

When I walked into the preschool classroom of Livonia Little Tots the children had just arrived at school. The students were hanging up their coats, saying goodbye to their parents, and finding an activity to play with before the day would officially begin. Some of the children were putting puzzles together, others were playing the game “Ants in the Pants,” and others were cutting fun shapes out of construction paper. They participated in these and similar activities for about twenty minutes while the teacher was preparing for the morning “circle time.” While the students were permitted to play with, however, and whatever they wanted to, the students at the traditional classroom were asked to use their inside voices rather than being allowed to speak in any level of voice.

The classroom environment of the traditional preschool seemed to stimulate learning due to the abundance of activities available to the students. During the morning play time the children were given the opportunity to explore many different things, like the play kitchen area, and the art area, and putting puzzles together. The physical classroom environment had artwork done by the students on the walls as decoration. There also were springtime seasonal decorations on the wall to brighten up the room as well. At infancy stage, the brain develops according to exposure to verbal expression exposure and visual physical observation exposure. The human being brain will utilize the exposures throughout the developing stages in life (Feldman, 2010). Parenting interaction with an infant and environmental condition affects the way infants develop. Hence, it is fundamental to set positive structure from the beginning because the exposure cannot be undone when raising a child. It is significantly important to provide a nurturing environment. The Affect Families Have On Infants and Childhood Development From infancy, the brain instantaneously goes through developmental change. The progress is an effect of genes and the environment the infant is exposing to and as an outcome of experiences (Feldman, 2010). Early childhood experiences have two categories; experience-dependent and experience-expectant. Experience-expectant refers to the development of the nervous system and it is predictable to develop in a certain way. Standard cognitive growth is reliant of the positive type of environmental exposure. America prides on their education, but as a country the standards are not raising for students as they are in other places of the world. The measure was designed to be appropriate for classrooms serving children from the age of 4–7 years. It assesses the nature and quality of instruction as well as the social climate and management of the classroom. Two separate scales assess the degree to which constructivist, child-centered and the degree to which didactic, teachercentered instructional practices are implemented.
